OVERVIEW

Standardized Dimensions for Proven Defense

The Czech Hedgehog is a static anti-tank obstacle constructed from three L140×140×13mm hot-rolled equal angle steel arms welded at right angles to form a three-dimensional cross. First developed in 1930s Czechoslovakia, this proven design has been manufactured to consistent dimensional standards for over 80 years, with two primary variants recognized globally.

The standard variant features 1,800mm arm lengths with a unit weight of approximately 198kg, while the heavy variant extends arms to 2,100mm for a total weight of 240kg. Both variants use the same L140 profile angle steel and share identical connection methods — factory-welded gusset plates reinforced with M20 grade 8.8 bolts for on-site assembly of the third arm.

Each unit includes six square base plates (150×150mm, 12mm thick) welded to arm ends to prevent ground sinking, plus barbed wire attachment notches. The design achieves a tested load capacity exceeding 60 tonnes-force, sufficient to disable main battle tanks by lifting their tracks off the ground upon traversal.

Key Features

Standardized Production Dimensions

Every unit fabricated to consistent dimensional tolerances with certified materials

Standardized Two-Variant System

Choose between the 1.8m standard (198kg) for light-to-medium vehicles or the 2.1m heavy variant (240kg) for main battle tank defense. Both share the same L140 steel profile and connection hardware.

M20 Bolted Field Assembly

Third arm ships detached with M20 grade 8.8 bolts for rapid on-site assembly. Two arms are factory-welded with gusset plates, reducing field labor to minutes per unit.

Anti-Sinking Base Plates

Six welded 150×150×12mm square base plates prevent the hedgehog from sinking into soft ground, maintaining effective height and obstacle integrity on all terrain types.

Barbed Wire Integration Points

Pre-welded notches on each arm allow rapid attachment of concertina or barbed wire, creating an integrated anti-infantry barrier system without modification.

Container-Optimized Flat-Pack

Disassembled flat-pack configuration enables 60-80 units per 20ft container (vs 30-40 assembled), reducing per-unit shipping cost by up to 50% for bulk export orders.

EN 10025 Certified Steel

All material conforms to EN 10025 S235JR or S355JR hot-rolled structural steel standards, with mill certificates provided for traceability and quality assurance.
